Jaehyun Brandon Lee
Jaehyun Brandon Lee is a multidisciplinary graphic designer from Seoul, South Korea, based in Baltimore.
He has high interests in fashion,film, and 3D, but also makes paintings and drawings. His work varies in medium and subject matter.
The story behind this piece is based on a traditional Korean folktale called “Gyeonu and Jiknyeo”, which originates from Chinese folktale. The story tells of once a year, on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month, a flock of magpies and crows would form a bridge to reunite the lovers for a single day.
This painting shows the aspiration of the meeting between the segregated lovers. It shows traditional Korean style painting with the modern pattern style inspired by Maurits Cornelis Escher.
