About the art

As an Asian American, I often feel a big disconnection between my culture, parents, and relatives, created by the barrier of language and disagreements on how to live. This piece is a representation of my longing to connect with my original culture. I wanted to portray the beauty of Vietnam and some places that I wanted to visit when I was able to afford to travel to Vietnam. My piece includes Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Long Bay, and the rice fields. This is only a small part of the journey of reconnecting with my lost identity.
