Jumpstart Your Creative Writing

Date: Saturday, April 4, 2020
Time: 1 - 4 PM
Location: Online

You've always wanted to write that short story or creative essay, but how to get started?

Maybe you've got an idea, but you're looking for the language to give it shape. Maybe you've got it all planned, but just need the time and space to get it on the page. This workshop was designed for writers of any and all backgrounds, at any stage in their career, to begin and possibly complete a short prose piece in the space of one workshop.

This workshop was open to all persons of any and every background and identity.

Jumpstart Your Creative Writing was facilitated by Aditya Desai.

What this workshop entailed:

The workshop began by discussing a selection of short readings that will be distributed prior to the workshop. Writers were then given a prompt to get ideas flowing, followed by open writing time. Writers came back together at the end to read aloud, share, and workshop pieces as a group. We hope that any completed pieces can find their way into an online zine to be published at a later date.

All guests were welcome -- but not required -- to write about their backgrounds and personal experiences. Rather, we considered this space a place where writers of all identities could connect with and have their work discussed by people of shared experiences.
