Save the Date for AAPI Heritage Month Celebration

Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month is a celebration of the contributions of AAPIs to America’s history and success. A rather broad term, AAPI encompasses all of the Asian continent and the Pacific Islands of Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia. The month of May was chosen to commemorate the arrival of the first Japanese immigrants to the United States in May 1843 and the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad in May 1869, which was largely built by Chinese immigrants.

This month we are partnering with Baltimore Sister Cities, Inc. to celebrate our traditions and generations of AAPIs in Baltimore and nationally who have enriched the history of America. The event will feature keynote speakers, music, performances, art, martial arts, and food. We’ll have a table at the event so come say hello and celebrate with us!
