BAPAC SEEKING STAGE MANAGER FOR TORNKID
This position will be working directly with the director on Tornkid. The stage manager will oversee the rehearsal process, be the main point of communication between the production teams and cast, ensure each show is properly prepped & will call the cues for each show.
Pertinent dates as follows:
Start date: Immediately
Starts April 1st
Monday - Thursday, 6 PM - 10 PM and some Saturdays 9 AM - 1 PM
Tech runs May 10 - May 14
Show dates: May 16 - June 2, Thursday - Sunday
Additional: All actors cast will be required to participate in mandatory developmental workshops, which will take place for one or two days in March. Dates and times will be decided once casting has been finalized.
Attend all rehearsals and production meetings.
Take rehearsal notes on information that need to be communicated to other departments.
Create & maintain contact list of actors & production crew.
With the director, create & maintain the rehearsal schedule.
Communicate with the cast their rehearsal & show call times.
Track all sound, light, & scenic elements throughout the show.
Build & run cue book for each performance.
Ensure floors are swept & mopped before each performance.
After each performance, ensure theater is properly closed & secured.
Experience as a stage manager in mid-sized theater companies.
Has knowledge of and prioritizes safe spaces and industry safety standards. Including, but not limited to sexual harassment and discrimination.
Familiarity with Qlab including programming & troubleshooting.
Formal training in a stage management program preferred.
Salary & Benefits
This is an independent contractor project position. Stipend is $500.

Our first full production is a collaboration with Cohesion Theatre and an original work devised by members of both organizations. We are excited to have New York-based Filipino-American playwright Katelynn Kenney on board to help us write our original script. Kenney is best known for her most recent play Void, which premiered in New York City earlier this year. Tornkid [our working title] will draw on the power of indigenous Asian and Pacific creation stories to explore identity and unearth how ancient female and non-binary narratives can provide guidance towards healing our broken world.
Leading this production as director is Cara Hinh - BAPAC’s Education and Community Outreach Director, fresh from her stint as Assistant Director for Baltimore Center Stage’s King of the Yees. Cohesion Theatre’s Artist Director Jessica Rassp will be creating original puppets for this production. Ms. Rassp is a master puppet maker and is best known for her work with Submersive Productions and their immersive theatre piece H.T. Darling’s Incredible Museaum.
