BAPAC SEEKING LYRICIST FOR #modelminority
This position will be working directly with the director, writer, & composer on #ModelMinority. The lyricist will be responsible for creating original lyrics for the original compositions by Bobby Ge. The lyricist will also help in doing ‘mashups’ and parody of some musical theatre standards.
Pertinent dates as follows:
Start date: Immediately
Starts June 20
Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6:30 PM - 10 PM
Some Saturday and Sunday mornings
Tech runs August 10 - 15
August 16 - 19, Fri - Mon
August 22 - 26, Thurs - Sun
Additional: All actors cast will be required to participate in mandatory developmental workshops, which will take place for one or two days each month from March through June. All dates and times will be decided once casting has been finalized.
Attend required workshops & writing meetings with designers & producers.
Attend designer run during the rehearsal process.
Collaborate & communicate with composer.
Experience as a lyricist for musical theater or pop music.
Formal training from a music program preferred.
Salary & Benefits
This is an independent contractor project position. Stipend is TBA.

#ModelMinority is an original work about the highs and lows of Asian Americans in the performing arts. This production will be a re-telling/adaptation of first person stories from Asian American performing artists, directors and writers and their struggles with identity and representation in the arts and entertainment industries.
The production will feature original music composed by Bobby Ge, and re-imaginings of some of your favorite musical theater numbers. Donna Ibale - currently the director for Rapid Lemon’s production of Thank You, Dad - will be directing this new work with Cori Dioquino as lead dramaturg and writer for the piece.
